4: Anyone who teaches anything different is both conceited and ignorant. Such a person has an unhealthy desire to quibble over the meaning of words. This stirs up arguments ending in jealousy, fighting, slander, and evil suspicions.
1 Timothy 3:6
- An elder must not be a new Christian, because he might be proud of being chosen so soon, and the Devil will use that pride to make him fall.
2 Timothy 2:14
- Remind everyone of these things, and command them in God's name to stop fighting over words. Such arguments are useless, and they can ruin those who hear them.
